Stanley C. Hernly AIA

Stan is the owner and principal architect of Hernly Associates, Inc. He is a registered architect in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, Louisiana and Indiana. In 1983, after receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, he moved to Lawrence, Kansas, to attend the University of Kansas where he earned a Master of Architecture degree in 1985. Abandoning plans to return to Indiana, Stan worked two years as an Intern Architect with Vieux Associates in Lawrence and then opened his own firm in 1987. In 2000, after thirteen years of living in and restoring a 1907 four-square house in Lawrence's Oread neighborhood, Stan designed his family’s current residence, which sits on a 3-acre lot south of town. He spends many spring and summer days gardening and especially enjoys starting heirloom tomato seedlings in the "basement greenhouse;” he believes, if you've never eaten a Green Zebra you don't know what you're missing.
